BREAKING: Wilson Electronics Buys Competitor zBoost
Jeff Morin |
Wilson Electronics has agreed to buy competitor zBoost, but will continue to operate the company as a separate entity and maintain the zBoost brand going forward. Wilson Electronics is the largest manufacturer of cell phone signal boosters in the United States, with about $50 million in revenue, which is about 5 times the size of rival zBoost, with revenues estimated at about $10 million. This move will allow Wilson to provide retailers with two different brands/product lines, which will allow consumers more choice to choose the product that best fits their needs.
This move should benefit consumers in that both companies can leverage the strengths of their engineering, manufacturing and operational experience to bring the best products possible to market. This acquisition should also aid Wilson in their planned international expansion to Asia later this year.
The deal itself came together rather quickly in a period of just a few weeks. It officially closed in January, but the announcement was delayed until now.
