Introducing Nextivity CEL-FI QUATRA 4000c Active DAS Hybrid Solution, the ultimate neutral host cellular coverage solution that combines private cellular networking capabilities, enabling businesses to expand their wireless connectivity strategy with a private network, alongside reliable public cellular coverage. It’s the first of its kind in the market, designed to meet the needs of a wide range of enterprise environments, making it perfect for Industry 4.0 readiness.

With its all-digital active DAS hybrid system, the QUATRA 4000c is a lossless RF signal and PoE distribution solution with category cable architecture. It enables installers to get systems up and running in a matter of days, instead of months of traditional DAS, and offers industry-leading performance, ease of installation, and speed of deployment. From ensuring reliable calling, texting, and data streaming to providing the option of adding a private network, QUATRA 4000c allows businesses to solve connectivity challenges and be Industry 4.0 ready.

The QUATRA 4000c comes with a Network Unit (NU) that acts as the hub of the system, featuring four donor ports: three operator-specific ports and one for a private networking signal source. The scalable design works with one to six Coverage Units to deliver public and private cellular coverage inside enterprise facilities. The NU relays the donor signal throughout the system, provides power to Coverage Units (up to six), and connects via Ethernet or LTE Modem to the CEL-FI WAVE Platform for remote monitoring and management. The NU model number is Q44-1M34CNU.

The Coverage Unit (CU) is the remote unit of the system that rebroadcasts the donor signal. The cost-efficient and easy-to-deploy system leverages Power over Ethernet (PoE) for up to six CUs, providing coverage throughout the facility. The CU is self-configuring and self-optimizing and is only compatible with CEL-FI QUATRA 4000c NU. The CU model number is Q41-RECU.

The CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 Fiber Hub expands the Network Unit capacity from six to up to twelve Coverage Units. The Fiber Hub can be installed 2.0 km (1.24 M) away from the NU to cover large spaces while maintaining the same signal quality throughout the system. The donor source is over fiber, FCC certified, and the SFP+ module is not included. The Fiber Hub model number is Q40-1234FNU.

The CEL-FI WAVE Portal is a cloud-based, remote management platform that allows users/operators to manage and maintain CEL-FI systems. The platform is mobile-friendly, which facilitates ease of use on-site. Alerts and alarms can be used as configured out of the box, or they can be customized however the owner or admin chooses. With the WAVE Portal, businesses can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing their cellular coverage and private networking needs are being monitored and managed remotely, ensuring the highest level of performance and reliability.

The CEL-FI QUATRA 4000c Active DAS Hybrid Solution is installer-friendly, with intelligent and dynamically self-configuring wireless systems, making it easier to install, achieve optimal voice quality and data speeds in spaces ranging from mobile to enterprise. It's unconditionally network safe with a no-noise guarantee, providing no interference with mobile networks or other subscribers’ signals. It’s the best overall value and performance, delivering the lowest cost per decibel of gain and square footage of coverage.

Nextivity’s CEL-FI products are built with the revolutionary IntelliBoost processor and WAVE software, delivering industry-leading signal gain with 3x the coverage footprint for voice and data. CEL-FI products are available for enterprises, public safety, small businesses.

QUATRA 4000c System Components

Network Unit

Network Unit (NU)

The QUATRA 4000c Network Unit (NU) represents the head-end or the brains of the whole system. The NU receives the input signal either from off-air antennas located outdoors or from small cells on-site that generate their own signals.

The NU has three RF Ports that are individually configured for the three major carriers: AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. A fourth RF port is available for CBRS private networking. There is also a dedicated cellular modem RF port that an antenna can be attached to for remote monitoring via the WAVE portal using the built-in cellular modem.

The bottom of the NU has 12 RJ-45 ports for Cat5e or better cables that connect up to six Coverage Units (CUs). Multiple NUs or Fiber Hubs can be added to cover larger areas.

The QUATRA 4000c Network Unit model number is Q44-1M34CNU.

Coverage Unit

Coverage Unit (CU)

The QUATRA 4000c Coverage Units (CUs) are the remote units that power one or more inside server antennas which provide indoor coverage. CUs connect back to the NU using two CAT5e or better cables (we recommend Cat6). They use Power over Ethernet (PoE) for power which the NU provides.

Coverage Units are plenum rated and can be installed as close as possible to the indoor server antennas in order to minimize RF cable loss. This results in maximum coverage and can reduce installation costs since Category cable is generally significantly less expensive than high-quality 50-ohm RF coaxial cable.

The Category cables connecting the Coverage Units to the Network Unit can be up to 100 meters long (328 ft) when using CAT5e cable or up to 150 meters long (492 ft) when using 22 or 23 AWG CAT6 or CAT7 cable. Range Extenders (see below) can be used to further extend that distance.

The QUATRA 4000c Coverage Unit model number is Q41-RECU.

Fiber Unit

Fiber Hub

The QUATRA 4000/4000c Fiber Hub allows you to expand the coverage of your system without requiring additional outside antennas. The Fiber Hub connects to one Network Unit via a Direct Attached Cable or Fiber with SFP+ Modules. The Fiber Hub then uses the signal sources from the Network Unit to power up to six additional Coverage Units.

There is a one-to-one relationship between Network Units and Fiber Hubs. Each Network Unit can support up to one Fiber Hub and each Fiber Hub can be connected to exactly one Network Unit. A Fiber Hub does require an existing Network Unit, it cannot be used independently.

In situations where additional Coverage Units are needed within the same general area, the Fiber Hub can be connected to the Network Unit with a 1-meter DAC cable. For larger installations where coverage is needed further away, 10 Gbps SFP+ modules plus single-mode fiber and run up to 2 km (1.24 miles) allowing you to expand coverage throughout a campus or deep into a mine or tunnel.

The QUATRA 4000/4000c Fiber Hub model number is Q40-1234FNU.

Range Extender

QUATRA Range Extender (QRE)

The QUATRA Range Extender (QRE) extends the Category/Ethernet cable length between the Network Unit and the Coverage Unit. Without a QRE, the cable between the Network Unit (or Fiber Hub) and the Coverage Unit is limited to approximately 100 meters (328 ft) when using Cat5e cable or 150 meters (492 ft) with 22 or 23 AWG CAT6 or CAT7 Cable.

The QRE allows you to double that length which allows you to have 100 meters (or 150 meters with better cable) on each side of the QRE device. The QRE uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) so no additional power is required for installation.

The QUATRA Range Extender for the 4000/4000c is model number Q40-0E.

Fiber Range Extender

QUATRA Fiber Range Extender (QFRE)

The QUATRA Fiber Range Extender (QFRE) is used to extend the distance between the Network Unit (or Fiber Hub) and one Coverage Unit using up to 2 km (1.24 miles).

The module on the Network Unit side of the fiber link is powered by Power over Ethernet from the Network Unit. The module on the Coverage Unit side of the fiber link can be powered by a dedicated power supply or using a special hybrid Fiber + Copper cable.

SFP+ modules are required.

The QUATRA Fiber Range Extender (QFRE) has the following model numbers:

  • Q40-0XNU (QUATRA 4000/4000c NU Side)
  • Q40-0XCU (QUATRA 4000/4000c CU Side)

QUATRA 4000c Supported Frequencies

The QUATRA 4000c ships as an FCC Part 20-compliant device. That means that it supports the five main frequency bands used by the major carriers in the US that are approved for boosting under the Part 20 guidelines. The QUATRA 4000c can also be converted to an FCC Part 90 system via a software update and applying new labels to each component in order to boost additional frequencies. This requires a retransmission agreement for the affected carriers.

CBRS support is available with a software unlock.
